Founded in St Kilda in 1981 by former Kush trumpeter + arranger, John Montesante, Grand WaZoo emerged from the suburb’s vibrant live-music culture and quickly established itself as Australia’s most authentic, respected and enduring Soul ensemble. More than four decades on, and still led by Montesante - for whom St Kilda remains home - the band continues to deliver matchless performances that honour the golden legacy of Soul, while thrilling contemporary audiences.

Renowned for its knockout 13+ piece line-up, Grand WaZoo features dynamic Vocalists, an exceptional horn section and rocking rhythm masters - steeped in the grooves of 1960s–70s Soul, Motown and R&B, with band originals in the mix. Back where it all began.
